Halloween Countdown #1

Yeap - it's that time again.....Goods favorite time of the year - the time to scare the neighborhood kiddies. So....only 29 more days to Boo-Day. I am going to feature some of out halloween cheer with you this year. First off....THE PUMPKIN. Well it didn't make it to it's 3rd Halloween....look at the guts spewing out onto the floor...

It was a sad day...and a stinky one too. It was so close to celebrating with us his 3rd halloween...but it just couldn't hang on. So you ask me how I know it was a BOY pumpkin....well ask yourself...would a GIRL make a mess all over my kitchen floor??? No, I think not.

So you are wondering where this halloween feature is that I talked about....well here it is...Fluffy is modeling it for you....She's shy...well really she was afraid of the flash...and me. Hey, her Daddy held her while I put it on...bad Daddy. Here is a closer look.

Oh - and yes I made it....I can be crafty at times...oh and it's reversible....just in case the eyes bug you.

I didn't really make it for Fluffy...I'm making a couple for some doggies that come to visit on their walks. I love them...

So...I know you all have been wondering why I didn't have my Lily Lou as the model...

It's still sooooo hard to talk about it, she was the love of my life (sorry Goods) and we had to send her to kitty heaven with Guido. As I sit here typing I'm bawling...I miss her with every piece of my being........ we sent her to heaven July 12th...the suckiest day of my life.

She was 15 1/2 years young...

Lily Lou...you were the best Kitty in the whole wide world...you were my best friend.

Now - I must go drown my sorrows with some vodka....yes, and Lily would have approved.

Halloween Count-Down

Halloween is only 17 quick days away....where...where...where...Lily is looking around for it??? Boo...Rats - there it is...and Lily is not amused.

I will be featuring some Halloween decor throughout this Halloween countdown. Goods, and now I am too, are huge into Halloween.....so be prepared to be scared! Kind of like last night's dinner....but I'll save that for another post.

Pumpkin Update....

Let's do a poll.....who feeds their pets that normally eat animal product, vegan pet-food???

I don't, one, because I couldn't change their diet at their ages, two, I feel that cats & dogs are "made to" eat animals....anyone agree??? or do you disagree????

Oh - and to my Goods - happy 2 month anniversary! Maybe I should bake him a pumpkin pie???

Watermelon & Booze....

...two of my favorite things - blended together to make Watermelon Slushies.... The bread, off to the lower left is banana bread I whipped up for and sent to my Dad for his birthday- he doesn't even know it's vegan & I'm not telling him.

But here is Goods enjoy the Watermelon Slushie-

This is just such a refreshing cocktail - from Vegetarian Times - here it is:

4 Cups of seedless watermelon cubed

1/2 Cup of Vodka (Skyy for me please)

1/4 Cup lime juice

1/4 Cup powdered sugar

1. Place watermelon cubes in shallow baking dish. Freeze 4 hours, or until solid.

2. Blend frozen watermelon cubes, vodka, lime juice & sugar until smooth.

**Now it states that it makes 4 servings - yeah maybe for elves, it really makes 2 servings for the Goods' family.

Now here is Lily attacking my ugly watermelon color cloggy shoes - yes they are gawd awful ugly - but they are great to wear in the kitchen, for my back, while standing on the tile floor.

And just a note on these shoes - I DID NOT BUY THEM MYSELF - they were a "THOUGHTFUL" gift from a friend- I don't let anyone see me in them - guess I'm a closet ugly clog wearer.

Dee is MIA

I swear I am the busiest, laid off vegan in the world. I've been MIA because a zillion reasons, obviously- or I wouldn't be the busiest laid off vegan in the world. So....where have I been? First it was a trip to my parents' in Altoona, PA for a long 4th of July weekend....see how thrilled Goods was....

That great pic of Goods was taken while we were at the Delgrosso's Fireworks - a tiny clip of the fantastic display is downloaded on my Flicker Account. The display was almost 30 minutes long and, as I said before, FANTASTIC. I recorded the whole show but I have know idea how I could download the whole thing since it's almost 500mb - so you will just have to take my word for it...or go next year to see them. BTW, the sauce they make is kick ass and now some of it is VEGAN. I think my friend "J" Delgrosso made sure I had a selection of vegan sauce to choose from - and get this....it's organic. I'll review the product once I use it- hint hint "J" I'm still waiting for my samples.

So what else has been occupying my time??? Well I'm working on & trying to pull of the biggest surprise that will occur in a couple of weeks. So, of course since it's a surprise, I can't tell you....YET....so that has helped to make me the busiest laid off vegan.

BUT I have cooked, like once....I finally broke down and bought VEGAN BRUNCH...and the first thing I made from it, well the only thing I made from it.....BEER-BATTERED TOFU. I know, not the healthiest thing in the world...but it was sooooo yummy.
It, the recipe, made a ton of batter so I also threw in some onion rings - what do you thing we were going to have a salad with the fried tofu???? Okay, we did that too, but if you are going to be bad, you might as well be really bad....

And the great news about the beer-battered tofu - IT FREEZES AND HEATS UP JUST DANDY! It' made a lot, and there was NO WAY our bodies, which are our temples, could handle eating all that fried-goodness, even over a weeks time - so I experimented with a piece in the freezer & took it out and popped it into the toaster oven and it worked!

Okay, you ask, what is else on my slate that is making me the busiest laid off vegan??? Well after the biggest surprise I'm ever going to pull off, Goods and I are taking a long weekend to google into each other eyes, and be all lovey dovey. Well maybe not so much but we are going away.

Then the next weekend that we get back we are on our city's garden tour. We will have some last minute things to do, like wash all the dead fish flies and spiderwebs off the house and pull a few weeds that snuck in while we were away. So that is also another reason why I am the busiest laid off vegan...projects, projects and more projects.

So watch for me back, after the first of August, for at least food posts....I might sneak a couple of other short posts in before that....but don't hold your breath on that.

I leave you with my most adorable kitty, who loves, loves water and has found that there is water in the pond - so she is partaking of it. Don't worry, she didn't drink that much - just enough until I got the camera to take the pics.....
